What is rabies
Rabies is an acute infectious disease caused by the rabies virus. It is zoonotic and is common in carnivorous animals such as dogs, wolves, and cats. Most people are infected by bites from sick animals.
Clinical manifestations include unique fear of water and wind, pharyngeal muscle spasm, progressive paralysis, etc.
The symptoms of hydrophobia are more prominent, so this disease is also called hydrophobia.
Reaction after rabies vaccination
Local reaction: A few have pain, redness, swelling, nodules, itching at the injection site, and even edema and lymphadenopathy.
Systemic reaction: Refined VERO cell rabies vaccine and refined hamster kidney cell vaccine are purified and have very few impurities, so the side effects of vaccination are rare or mild.
Contraindications after rabies vaccination
Therapeutic vaccination: Since rabies is a fatal disease, any contraindications are secondary compared to saving lives, so there are no contraindications for prevention after being bitten by a rabid animal.
Preventive vaccination: Under the premise of ensuring that there is no chance of contact with infectious sources and rabies virus in the near future, vaccination can be postponed for pregnant women, those with acute diseases, allergic constitutions, and those using steroids and immunosuppressants.
Use with caution for those who are allergic to streptomycin and neomycin.
