What is heat stroke

Heatstroke refers to an acute disease with central nervous system and circulatory system disorders caused by the disorder of human body temperature regulation function under high temperature environment.

In addition to high temperature and exposure to the sun, excessive work intensity, long working time, lack of sleep, excessive fatigue, etc. are all common causes.

Types of heat stroke

According to the severity of clinical manifestations, heatstroke can be divided into premonitory heatstroke, mild heatstroke and severe heatstroke.

Premonitory heatstroke symptoms

In high temperature environment, symptoms such as headache, dizziness, thirst, sweating, weakness and soreness of limbs, lack of concentration, and uncoordinated movements appear.

It should be moved to a cool and ventilated place in time, replenish water and salt, and apply warm water to the head first, and then change to cold water.

Mild heatstroke symptoms

The body temperature is often above 38 degrees.

Symptoms such as dizziness, thirst, heavy sweating, burning skin, or cold limbs, pale complexion, decreased blood pressure, and increased pulse appear.

You can drink salty drinks and intravenously drip 500-1000 ml of normal saline. Cover the body with a wet towel and place ice packs on the head and large blood vessels.

Symptoms of severe heatstroke

Under the scorching sun, strong sunlight penetrates the skin and skull of the head, causing damage to brain cells, which in turn causes congestion and edema of brain tissue.

The discomfort that begins to appear at this time is severe headache, nausea and vomiting, irritability, and then coma and convulsions may occur. 

Severe cases may cause cerebral edema, pulmonary edema, heart failure, etc.
